5TH METATARSAL FRACTURE

On Oct. 11, 2011 I fractured the 5th metatarsal bone on my right foot. The doctor I went to did not cast it as it was quite swollen and discolored.
I was given crutches and told to stay off it.
When I returned 4 days later for him to examine it he gave me the same instructions, and still did not cast it.
I month later x-rays and a CAT scan showed it had not healed. Still no cast. Now 3 months later he wants to cast it and do osti(?)-stimulator treatments.
I’ll have to stay out of work for 6-8 wks as I won’t be able to drive (part of my job). Does this sound reasonable? He says that’s the treatment or else surgery to put a pin in it.
I’ve had very little pain even when I did it, and can’t believe I have to do this now.
HELP WITH ADVICE PLEASE!!!
