5th. metatarsal injury
(3 discussions)
Broke my fifth metatarsal on January 20th, 2014. I’ve seen an orthopedic doctor, splint was put on my foot temporary for about 6 weeks, I went back to the doctor, x-rays were taken and seem that fracture is healing doctor didn’t ask me to wear anything special or attend PT he said that I should start walking slow until a get fine. I can’t walk straight it hurts and still on pain worse at night…
Is this normal? what else should I do? How long would take to recuperate? PleaseAny advice you may provide would be greatly appreciated.

%th metatarsal fractures can be a different situation in different people, depending on the location of the fracture. Your age, weight, health and level of activity will also play a part. It would be more helpful to examine your foot and the x-rays in order to give you a better answer. If you are concerned, get a copy and get another opinion.
