abnormal feet

(2 discussions)

I was born with the fourth toe shorter then the rest of my feet and is not lined across because the fourth toe starts lower then the rest of my feet. How can I get it fixed. Will it cause serious feet problems in the future. Is there a surgery for it.

Depending on the degree of deformity, there may be a surgery for the congenital short toe. Usually this is due to brachymetatrsia, or a congenital short metatarsal. The surgical procedure is to lengthen the bone over a long period of time. Not every doctor does this and not every insurance will pay for this, if there is no evidence of pain.

I am in the military and about 6 months ago I went to the doctor for my feet hurtting, actually they were bad enough that I didn’t want to get out of bed in the morning, so he said that my problem was that I walk on the outside edge of my feet and being military all they did was give me inserts which I wore down in the matter of a month and gave me motran for the pain, but still today I am having the same problem only I think it is getting worse because I am deployed right now, and it feels like the inside of my ankle is being strecthed like a rubber band to its fullist strecth and the out side fells tight too, can you please help me and tell me what I should do the military doctors don’t seem to want to help much, and they are getting to where I can’t bear the pain much longer. thank you for your help
