Accessory Navicular question

What are the risk in having a accessory navicular removed ?
My podiatrist in contemplating surgery for my painful condition.
Being an athlete, I am very concerned about the risks involved with such a surgery.
Is this a very successful surgery or should I have some concern that this will not necessarily treat my pain ?
Thank you.

You need to ask your doctor these questions. You should have confidence in your surgeon and have all your concerns addressed.Removing the accessory navicular is a well known performed procedure.Surgery is an art as well as a science. There are many variables that go into the success of a procedure including but not limited to: the patient, the surgeon, the patient’s expectations, health, activity level, etc.
