Achilles Tendon

Three weeks ago I tore my achillies. The diagnosis was that it was a partial tear. I had a full leg cast put on and made my appointment to see an ortho. That appointment was made for 1 week later. An MRI then scheduled for 1 week after that. It has been 3 weeks and I have been in a full cast and the MRI now determines that I have a full rupture of 10 centermeters.My question is, Is it ok to go without surgery? In my readings I do understand it has been too long of a wait for surgery. Why do you feel my appointments were scheduled so far in between? Is it common for them not to know right how severe the tear was? I am a very active young healthy person. I did not really want surgery but now I am a little concerned about this reoccuring.
