acid reflux in 9yr.old child

my son (9) has had upper respiratory problems since I can remember. I made a very BIG mistake, I smoked while pregnant with him. I just thought that was the irreversible damage I caused him that he was going to now have to life with, until the other day. I brought him to an ENT. He told me my son was suffering from acid reflux. Wow I never considered that it makes some sense. I fear giving him ” that ” medication. Could getting chiro adjustments help?
