After Surgery Still Feel Numbness

(3 discussions)

I recently had surgery on my ankel where plates and screws had to be placed in it.
This was 2 months ago, now I am wearing a boot and on the outer part of my ankel I still fell numbness. Now I have feeling in other part of my ankel except for outer part, is this going to be permanent?

I had ankle surgery a year ago. I had numbness for a few months after, but it will keep slowly going away. you may still have a little over the incision, but other than that it shouldn’t be permanant. if it is still then contact your surgeon.

I had surgery on my back 3 years ago, and until that day I still have numbness. It is just one of those things that could possibly happen. My friend told me that it is because that hit some nerves while doing the process. It does get better though. You get use to it. I don’t know if it is just a temporary thing for you, but I just thought I would add on.
