ankle injury help please

I was running sometime in mid-July this year and I stepped in a pothole, twisting my ankle pretty badly. I kept off it for a week or so, and then went back to normal. to this day I still have some instability in the ankle when running/walking and its tends to sometimes give out abruptly and twist. I was wondering if their is a brace I should wear to strengthen the ankle and prevent future injuries and twisting.

You might also want to wear a brace during exercise to further help prevent more sprains.Ok, thanks. What kind of brace would you suggest? I have been using a lace-up brace and it works pretty well but the ankle still rolls a little once in a while but the brace prevents it from rolling all the way. Also, on that same ankle after I sit for a long period of time (30 mins+) when I stand and start walking it hurts, is very stiff and pops a few times when I walk. Any advice on this? Also, should I only wear the brace during exercise?

Also, should I only wear the brace during exercise?Does your brace have laces and velcro straps? The ones I have do and those eliminate all most all rolling. However if you have really weak ankles no brace will keep them from rolling. You must do strengthening exercises to prevent rolling. I would suggest only wearing the brace during exercise so when u are walking around normally the ankle will not become dependant on the brace. I know my ankle pops everynow and then if I sit for too long or when I first wake up. I have never really had a problem with it and never really looked into it. However if the popping comes with pain you may want to ask a doctor. Hope that helps.
