ankle pain

hi i’m 17 years old and about 9 months ago I injured myself playing football. the injury was caused by a severe tackle, I was hit two-footed on my right shin and it caused by foot to turn outwards (an eversion strin I think).
However at the time the pain was not severe and iwas able to continue playing with some discomfort in my shin but at the time my ankle was not painful so I thought nothing of it.
I am(was) a cross-country runner and about a week after the injury I had to run in a race, during the race my leg felt fine but some time after my ankle began to hurt. I found that although this pain wasn’t particullary bad I can’t get rid of it. I can maybe do 2night’s training each week without my ankle causing enough discomfort to stop me but if I try and do more the pain will get increasingly worse.since the injury I have tried to find out what is wrong with me by going to various professionals, each time receiving conflicting opinions: my GP says that I have only strained tendons, a podiatrist said that it could have been that I broke some bone(a fracture of the fibular malleolus) but without an x-ray there is no way of knowing.any information that you could provide would be greatly appreciated. Thank you

I understand your concern. I recommend a MRI. This will show both tendon and soft tissue injury. It also is better for ankle injuries that you know are there but just can tell much on a conventional x-ray.
