ankle sprain

(3 discussions)

I sprained my ankle before Labor Day while golfing.
I had xrays taken and was told that it was just a bad sprain.
After 6 weeks, there was still some swelling and pain in the foot joint where the leg attaches to it.
I again had xrays taken, and was told again that there was no break.
Now it is November 17th, and I still have limited mobilization of my ankle, pressure pain in the ball of my foot, and some pain in the arch – What can the problem be and how do I fix it?
I have been going to a chiropractor for manipulation and it doesn’t seem to be helping.
Any help you can give me would be appreciated.

You are going thru what I spent half my life dealing with – that is why PROLOTHERAPY helped me…( I posted about this weeks ago) … It still seems early for you though ……Perhaps a nice therapy gameplan could help ….Other will shed some light 🙂

Hi, I have been dealing with a Grade 3 ankle sprain with a complete rupture of the ATFL and partial rupture of the CFL. After about 7 wks of no improvement I had an MRI and now (I did it 8-12-05) I am having arthoscopic surgery for anterolateral impingment syndrome. Speak to your doc about having an MRI done to see if something else is going on. Good Luck

first, please tell me what treatment you initially were given upon initial presentation w/ your sprain. Ligaments take 6-8 wks to, and proper healing MUST occur to regain proper strength due to the types of collagen be layed down and the direction the collagen lays in the injured area. Second, can you please describe where your pain is now more specifically…is it the same as when you first hurt your ankle..has it moved?thanks
