ankle support for soccer injury
What ankle support device do you recommend for a soccer player who wears podiatrist-molded custom orthotics due to flat feet?
She is a teenager who plays year-round for her high school and other competitive leagues, and she rolled her ankle severely out playing indoor soccer about a month ago.
Because of the flat feet, she must use the orthotics at all times, especially when running.
She has been doing strengthening exercises, and is ready to begin running on her ankle again, but we are unsure as to what ‘device’ to use to keep the ankle stable with the orthotic also in the shoe.
Any ideas?
We have tried on an Active Ankle, but it doesn’t ‘mold’ to the orthotic, since the piece that goes across the bottom of the foot is rigid.
Thanks,Linda

In my practice, I use the ASO ankle brace. Here is a link. It can be done, but depending on the shoe, it might be a bit tight.http://www.anklebrace.info/medicalspecialties/index.htm
