bicep pain

(6 discussions)

Pain in area above bicep, worse when arm is twisted or when I use the arm to suddenly brace myself, ie., from a slip on the ice.
It can be so excruciating at times that it takes my breath away. Any help would be appreciated!

I think I have the same thing, really bad pain if I for example reach out suddenly to get a door or catch a ball. Would be nice to know what it might be before seeing the Physio.

I began experiencing extreme discomfort in my left bicep when my arm is in certain positions-generally slightly up and out from my body. I have been going for massage therapy and they indicated that I may have the beginning of a frozen shoulder or rotater cuff problem. Does this sound right? I am not aware of any particular thing that I did to injure this area and although my neck and shoulder were full of “knots”, does this sound like something serious enough to consult a physician? The problem has persisted for 6 weeks. Thank you

Same problem. When I reach behind me, or brace myself, the pain in my left bicep can be quite bad. Physio says it is a tendon problem. I don’t think so because I never did anything to injure it. Has been going on for about 6 months. Any suggestions?

I get a similar pain when I reach out for something on my desk, clothes on a chair, etc. Doesn’t happen all the time but seems to be increasing in number of times I get the pain. My chiro thinks it could be rotator cuff tear and suggested an MRI to rule it out. I did have a couple of falls (clutso!) in the last couple of months…in one fall I fell hard on that shoulder into a wall, the other was on ice and mostly on my back…haven’t related them as yet to the pain.

My pain continues since my last post in January. Now it has moved to my right arm while my left seems to be improving. Can be quite painful when I twist or reach across my body. The bicep muscle seems to go into spasm. Any help out there?

I am pain free. The condition lasted about a year and there is no obvious reason why it occurred.
