Bicepts Tendon

(3 discussions)

I’m a recreational power lifter and have a partial bicept tendon tear. Is surgery a must or is this something I can live with? Will I be able to continue power lifting or is it all over? Or, if I have surgery will I be able to make a “comeback” with regards to power lifting? Do you know of any doctors that are experienced with this type of injury?

I was pulling myself up a hanging rope when my right arm bicep suddenly felt like it was struck. My bicep appears “snapped” apart. Somewhat painful. I look at it and my bicep is bunched up toward the upper arm, and down my arm on the inside below the elbow, is another (smaller) bunching of muscle. Starting to feel real pain in the bunched areas, although no sign of bleeding or bruising (on the skin).

I think I may have separated the lateral bicep muscle on my left arm. How is this diagnosed? What are the tretment options? How would you advise me to proceed? What is the prognosis? I appreciate any advice you have for me, as it is making me very anxious…
