bone cyst on my sons left ankle

could someone tell me what a bone cyst is? had my 9 year old son to er today and he did an x-ray after my son twisted his left ankle. doctor said that he dident break it but the x-ray showed bone cyst which may never bother him that he just wanted to let me know. what can be done about a bone cyst? is this serious? help! MY SON KINDA WALKS ON THE SIDE OF HIS FOOT AT THIS POINT. AND WHATS BETTER….

    There are different types of bone cysts. As you have been advised this was noted only because of the injury and subsequent x-ray. More detailed information should come from your doctor who can see the x-ray and the patient. It is certainly possible that nothing may need to be done about it. As far as treating the injury, I generally recommend rest, ice compression and elevation. If it is severe and or painful, I will put the patient in a cast brace possibly even have them use crutches. The specifics should come from your doctor.
