bone scan
I’m having a bone scan next month on 5th metatarsal and was wondering exactly what this could show (no-one’s really explained it to me). Will it just show up if fracture or will bruising of bone be evident? I’ve had problems with it for 1 1/2 yrs completely unexplained so feeling hopeful!!!
Thanks for your help

A bone scan will show uptake of the radionucleotide in an area of a fracture, tumor or infection. If this is an old fracture and there is no activity noted, then a non-union may be the problem. Depending on the results,a bone stimulator or surgery might be recommended. You can do a Google search on bone scan and get alot more information.
