Broken 5th metatarsal

I broke my 5th metatarsal on my left foot about a week ago and the orthopedist I went to told me to use a crutch and wear an ace bandage and I should be healed in 12 weeks.
I’m an impatient fellow and this seems like an awfully long time for that bone to heal, is there anything I can do that would speed up the process?

There are several considerations. For example, is the fracture displaced? Is the fracture a Jones fracture which is noted to be very difficult to heal. You don’t state your age, health activity etc. Your doctor really is the best person to ask your questions. Hang in there.
