broken big toe?

A couple days ago, a stubbed my left big toe really badly on a metal door frame.
Three days later the pain hasn’t subsided, but it’s not to bad when I am not doing anything but hurts like crazy when I walk.
Under the nail is bluish, with black in front of the nail.
I figure it is probably broken, fractured, or something else.
I am going to the doctor this week.
I was just curious if this is probably a break or fracture and if so what are the usual treatments for these?
