broken clavical

(5 discussions)

Hi I am a 47 year old female and have a broken clavical, it has been 8 weeks & the surgeon says there is next to no change since the day I broke it. So he has started me with complete physiotherapy sessions 2x a week for 90 to 120 min per sessions plus at home. he says not to worry about the break he is more concerned with getting the shoulder moving and I don’t go back to see him for another 6 weeks. This will be 14 weeks, my question is Does it sound like he is considering surgery? The bone is overlapped with a piece of bone wedged inbetween and doing the physio causes pain at the point of the break…should I be concerned?

I was in a car accident and broke my collar bone, six months later there was no change, my bones are also overlapping each other so I was sent to see a specialist and I am going for corrective surgery at the end of this month, surgery sounds like it could be a definite possibility but it will probably not come until some time later on

I have a metal plate and 9 screws that were put in on Dec.23. How long is the normal wait time to get these out. I am still in a great deal of pain and want this plate out.

I broke my clavical bone in feb this year after three weeks of havin this I attened my local hospital and had an xray to find out that it was not healing it had got stuck under my shoulder muscle
I was then reffered to another doc who took one look at and got me straight in to hospital and operadted on me asap they took bone from my hip attached to my shoulder then put aplate on my shoulde with nine screws and I was off work for 6mths
I had intense physo and I returned to hospital for check to find out that it had not healed so now I have to go back in to hospital in jan for another op to get more bone of my hip to be put on my shoulder and a bigger plate on fingers crossed this time it heals and gets better

I had a mountain bike accident in August. I had 4 broken ribs and a collasped lung. One week after the accident the attached a plate with 8 screws, the screws failed and it was redone with a new design for the plate by Dr. Mark Hanson of Mclean County Orthopedics in Bloomington, IL. The new plate has held great. I used a sling for three weeks and went back to work. It has been 9 weeks since that surgery. The second plate held it so well there was no movement at the break. I too look to have the plate removed 3rd surg as soon as the doctor tells me I can.
