A clavicular fracture most often occurs as a result of falling on an outstretched arm. It can also occur as a result of a direct blow. The amount of time required for healing depends upon the age of the patient, the type of fracture, and the location of the fracture. Normally, the younger the person, the more quickly they will fully heal. If this question if for an injury you recently suffered, I will need the above information to give you a more specific healing time. Please let us know if we can help you any further.

I BROKE MY COLLAR BONE LAST WEEK, AND MY X-RAYSSHOW THAT MY BONES ARE 3/4 – 1″ OUT OF ALIGNMENT, AND I WAS WONDERING IF THE BONES NEEDED TO BE SET CORRECTLY, OR IS THE BRACE THAT I AM WEARING ALL THAT CAN BE DONE FOR THIS PROBLEM. I WAS TOLD MY A DOCTER THAT THE BONES WOULD FORM A BRIDGE BETWEEN THEM AND REJOIN, BUT WOULD LEAVEA LARGE LUMP ON MY CHEST.WHAT IS MY BEST SOLUTION FOR MY PROBLEM???

Im an 18 yr old girl. A month ago I was in a car accident, and broke my collar bone. The cause of the break was the seatbelt. The bone is broken a little bit past the middle towards my shoulder. The bone looks like a slice and it sticks up out of my skin. My orthopedic told me to leave it in sling and come back in 10 days, if it doesnt start to heal, ill need surgery. I go back to him, he took xrays and said it pretty much looks the same, sometimes it doesnt start healing after 6 weeks. The bone is not sticking up as much and I’m not in so much pain. I was wondering if this is normal for it not healing and if the sling is ok, and if surgery is a safe thing to do for it. thank you.

How long was your son off the ice? My son also broke his and it has been 8 weeks and the doctor still won’t let him play. It was broken almost through the skin, but he has felt good since week 2. I would like any advise you have.
