Broken fibia – any excersises?

(3 discussions)

I have a fibia that was broken in 2 places.
I am in cast for 4-6 weeks.
What excersies can I do that will help with healing?

Check with your Dr. first but I would suggest drinking lots of milk (Got Milk?)or taking calcium supplements. Straight leg raises, side leg raises and stationary cycle (ask the Dr.) should keep you in shape till the cast comes off.

Reply: I broke my fibia while skiing in Chile last September. Axial compression with a leg press machine was recommended by phys therapist and it helped me. I start with the leg press already well extended and with more pressure on the healthy foot, then slowly xfer the weight to the bad foot, keep the leg straight and hold for a minute and repeat 10 times. I started with 50lbs and have increased this to 110lbs in last two months. – sanjay
