broken left clavical

(2 discussions)

My 12 year old son broke his clavical on the 6th. He has been in constant pain since that time. The Doctor has given him some Tylenol 3 and it is barely touching the pain. I saw the Xrays while in emerg and it appears to be a clean break. Should the pain be lasting this long? Is physio recommended to heal faster? Should we be looking to see if there is anything else wrong or is this normal for amount and length of time of pain?

It’s a painful break. I have broken many bones in my life but nothing hurts as bad a breaking your clavical!!! I have broken both my left and my right and as I type this my left is only two weeks into healing. I broke my right one 5 years back playing football and then broke my left just a few weeks ago in a motorcycle wreck. It dose get better but it takes a few weeks. If the Tylonal -3 does not work go back and ask for Vicodin it’s a little better but the best thing to do is not to move around at all for at least the first week. Well good luck and it will get better with time. Reuben
