do you have any advice for pain relief for broken/bruised ribs suffered in a hockey collision? my husband fell on his ribs and the x-rays are inconclusive as to whether they are broken. he does not appear to have a collapsed lung, but continues to be in terrible pain even with advil. he keeps experiencing muscle spasms whenever he moves and cannot get comfortable.

I just cracked a rib myself and find it to be about the most painful thing I’ve ever experienced. There’s no constant throbbing but it hurts like hell to breath, cough, or move. If you recieved an answer to your question would you please write and tell me how to relieve the pain.

I also have broken ribs, the only thing that LESSENS the pain is Ibuprofren 800 mg. and a hot heating pad. It don’t take away the pain, but it does make it at least tolerable.

My husband was recently in a car accident. He has 3 broken ribs and a minor lacerated liver. What can I do to be more supprtive but get him to use his breathalizer more often? I don’t want to turn into the B-word, but at the same time, he doesn’t do the things he’s supposed to often enough.

i have just fell fromm a tree and received 4 broken ribs all I can say it is very pain full iam well into my second week and still sore don’t get me wrong it is a lot better but still sore.all I can addvise is plenty of rest and plenty of iborofen and try to cope with the muscle spasm’s I know thats easier said than done gritt yeh teeth and try yeh best it does get better but takes well over a week

I broke # 7 last Sunday waterskiing. What works for me is spending time in a jacuzzi at the end of the work day. Then I secure a cold pack against my chest with a neoprene wrap I bought in a sporting goods store. I sleep on a recliner chair which feels better than the bed, but I think more importantly minimizes movement. A little codeine and I sleep the night through.
Each day I feel it getting better, but I know its weeks to go. Good luck.

I have broken the left and right side rib cages within months of each other by doing simple bending tasks. I have had several tests done including a bone density test. Still no answers…any opinions?

I too am suffering from craked or broken ribs.(self diagnosed) My problem is not only when I breath but when I try to breath in deeply I can hear something pop. is this normal?

I fell about 5 days ago, doctors tell me that I ahve broken ribs and nothing they can do about it. What I can do for the pain except for taking pills that they are not working.
