I suffered a spiral fracture of my lower left Tib and upper Fib during an avalanche while snowboarding on July 29th. I had surgery and they placed a plate and 9 screws on the inside of my left leg to secure the Tibia, the fibula will and is healing itself fine. Another twist, pardon the pun, to the break was a ***erfly fracture, I think that is what it is called, basically the bone splintered of a piece of bone the size of a quarter which was surgically placed back in the correct spot with a 3 inch long incision. This piece is missing small chunks of bine also to make matters worse.
Anyway, I am having monthly check ups and the only problem area is the broken off piece. The current status is, 2&1/2 months so far with 50% weight bearing, to stimulate bone growth, and now my doctor has linked me up with an outside guy who supplied me with a bone stimulator. MY question is what is the best daily physical therapy I could be doing. Lots of weight assisited walking or not too much??? Also how valid are bone stimulator’s? I am very active and am in good physical shape, but my cardio is currently shot due to no normal exercise. Thanks.

I broke my tib and fib in oct last year, I am 44 years old, they manually manipulated the bones together and put me in a full cast for 17 weeks, I now have a below the knee cast and am told put full weight on leg, I have calcium growth on the wound but it just seems to be taking ages to heal, is this becos of my age? I am in little pain just a burning sensation every now and then? All I want to do is get better

MY FIBIA BONE WAS BROKEN I HAD TO WEAR A BOOT FOR EIGHT WEEKS THEN A SOFT CASK DOCTOR SAID TO WEAR SOFT CASK ON UNEVEN GROUND BUT WHEN I AM ON EVEN GROUND I DID NOT NEED TO WEAR IT. BUT THE BONE ON THE TOP OF MY FOOT KEEPS POPPING AND IT HURTS AND MY LEG STAYS SWELLEN AND IT ACHES.
