broken tibia & fibula

(6 discussions)

My 8 year old daughter broke her tibia & fibula at school in December 2015.
She’s had her cast off for 2 weeks but is still having a hard time walking. Can you recommend any exercises that will help?

hi, I broke my tibia and fibula about a year ago. but I’m still having problem getting to my normal condition, could it be because I never had any rehab except for walking exercise. and is the bone suppose to heal perfectly, cause I can feel a bump on the side, and I think its the bone sticking out, cause the last x-ray I had when the doctor release me, the bones wasn’t really alligned perfectly but the doctor said it was o.k. since the rod that they had put on is the one that’s going to be supporting me. and with that will I be able to play basketball again, and is it suppose to be stronger than before like they say. cause I try to run with it as fast as I could but I start to feel a little pain. and I guess I would really like to know if its really o.k. now with the rod they put on cause when the doctor release me I wasn’t very confident with it. please help.. any suggestions or comments is greatly appreciated…

i broke my tibia and fibula about 1 year from now. I have a metal rod keeping the bone in place. everyone wants me to take it out now. what are the advantages and disadvantages of taking out the rod? also I still can’t run and do the stuff I enjoyed doing before I can’t even bend my leg. and have stiffness in the neecap what should I do?

Hi, what I recommend is you ask your doc for a script for PT. It’s so difficult to give exercises, when she may require some stretching and massage first.

i broke my tibia and fibula playing football. I had surgery 2 weeks ago and now I’m walkin on my foot no crutches or anything. I also am I big basketball player I love basketball. I’m curious if I will be able to play in about a month and a half. However I cannot yet run on it.

My name is Jamie Nolan from Cork in Ireland. I am 24 years old and I suffered a double leg break(Tibia & Fibula) on the 23rd of December 2018 while playing a soccer match. I have since been recovering and am getting increasingly frustrated as I am still not back playing. The bone is fully healed but I am still getting severe pain when I run. I can’t change direction quickly either without this pain. I also get a vibration or tingling feeling even if I touch down where the ‘IM nails’ are in the leg. I haven’t been able to get an explanation for this and I am getting more and more impatient as the days go by. I hope you can help me,thank you in advance
