When speaking in general terms a disc injury takes from weeks to months to heal as compared to a facet injury or muscle strain which takes from days to weeks.

I have a bulging disc and received a shot in the L 5 S.I. area four months ago..Went to P.T. for one month. No change..Have been going to D.C. for one month. Some progress. How long should I go to the D.C.? I do not want surgery. How long does it take to recover from bulging disc?

Generally speaking you are looking at approx 12mths before a disc bulge will stabilise, this depends on the size, position and other factors pertaining to the injury though. Passive treatment modes will help the symptoms particuarly localised muscle spasming but will do virtually nothing to ‘fix’ the problem.

I have 2 bulging disk and mild stenosis and no evidence of disk herniation. I have had a lot of pain for 4 years, and acute pain for 5 weeks. My MRI also said I had more than usual fatty marrow replacement. What is that?
