bunion surgery
I have a bunion forcing my big toe sideways under my next one. I am a runner, and now find pain in the metatarsil bone under my second toe. An orthapaedic surgeon says it may be athritic. Can he say this from an xray? He advises against surgery saying I won’t be able to run after it because of lack of flexibility in the big toe. Yet everything I have read says that the operation is usually successful. What do you think?

I can only answer this in the most general terms. First I would recommend you get other opinions with your X-rays. As far as making the statement that you would not be able to run, I can't agree with that statement. There are many types of bunion procedures.
