calcaneus fracture

Calcaneus fracture was treated with immediate casting, no surgery.
Hopes are that surgery will not be necessary.
My doctor insists that I will never jog or walk long distances again, advising that water exercise is the only tolerable workout.
My therapist insists that jogging and walking are entirely possible.
I would appreciate any input.
