Can therapy be too agressive?

I just left two weeks of in patient therapy for total knee replacement and just went to first outpatient session. The difference in amount of time I’m in extreme pain in therapy has gone from 3 minutes to 15 minutes . I am for anything that straightens my leg but don’t want to be subjected to extremes which may or may not work. How do I know valid methods being used?

You did not say what and how much therapy you are receiving. Therapy to a total knee replacement can be very painful, especially if they have to do a lot of stretching because your knee will not straighten all the way or it will not bed to at least 90 degrees. Are you using ice? Ask your PT if estim is right for you. If in doubt, ask to speak to the PT manager and discuss tx sessions and if it is appropriate.
