cartlidge torn in knee

(4 discussions)

hey, I got a? I tore the cartlidge in my right knee last thursday night. I knew it was hurt because I heard a loud pop then it went numb. I saw my orthopedic doc on fri and did an MRI on mon. I am waiting till tomorrow morning to see what the doc has to say, but since monday(i don’t know if holding my knee still for the MRI aggrevated it) my knee has been killing me and I have started to have cramps in my right calf. I have tryed to get in sooner with the doc, but nothing is available. should I be worried? and also is it common to fix this injury with surgery

I have a question to ask an Orthopedic Surgeon. My husband is a 55 year old who was having knee pain. An MRI revealed a torn cartilage in his knee. We are waiting to see a surgeon but the wait is very long. What can he do in the meantime, and is walking going to do more damage. It seems that whenever he goes for a walk, he tends to limp more afterwards. Thank You

My meniscus is torn in three places. Will it heal on it own? The knee has locked about three times in the past 1 1/2. Any other alternatives besides surgery?
Thank you for taking my questions. Janeyp

Is the only solution to a torn cartlidge sugery? It seems when they start surgery on a knee it is an ongoing repetative procedure. Surely there is an alternative
