Is it my hamstring?

(3 discussions)

I started working out with a trainer a few months ago to loose weight( I currently am about 280), and noticed that when we would go walking I would hear a popping sound coming from my knee. As we continued and started to do some leg weights on a machine, there was pain. He told me it was just the weight and my age and to continue on. A few months have gone by now(I let the trainer go, I just felt that wasn’t right) but know I have some type of injury that I don’t understand. The back of my knee and the surrounding upper and lower areas hurt and stiffen. Ice makes it stiffen even more. If I sit too long it’s hard for me to stand up, and sometimes it feels as if there’s a band back there and on the side of my knee that tightens and twists for no reason(this hurts soooo badly). Please, anybody with any insight and/or suggestions, help me!!

pains in my legs

When I go out for a walk, as soon as I start the front of my lower legs starts to burn. What could cause this and what can I do about it. I’d really like to solve this problem because I really enjoy walking.

Plantaris Tendon

I’ve been diagnosed with some inflammation in my plantaris tendon (runs from behind the knee down the back of the calf and into the ankle). It’s been causing me calf pain when I run for quite a while now. The doc referred me to a sports med guy, but it might take a while for me to get an appointment. Anyone ever had this injury or know anything about it? While I’m waiting for the orthopedic guy, should I be icing or heating? I’ve heard heat for an inflamed tendon might not be a good idea? How about stretching or a compression wrap (not sure if that would limit blood flow and slow healing or provide support and help)? Any other ideas to get this thing healed ASAP???

P-T for post surgical bicep tendon.

Hi… I just had my cast removed 3 weeks after surgeryto repair a tear of my left bicep tendon, whichoccurred down near the forearm, while doing bicep curls. My surgeon told me that it looks fine and to startworking on improving range of motion.
He didn’t get into specifics. My question is: What should I do or not do?
I won’tbe able to see a physical therapist for 2 weeks since I’ll be on vacation, but I’d like to help the recoveryprocess along (without overdoing it).
What movementsshould I work on? Any information would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks!

wrist

I’m a mom of three young children under three, all of whom drink from sippy cups.
Through opening them several times per day, day after day (they can be VERY hard to open when they are closed correctly to avoid spills), I have developed a terrible weakness in my wrist. First, it only hurt while I was trying to open the sippy cup but lately, after I open one it will go on hurting for the next hour or so. I’m afraid I may be doing permanent damage to my wrist and might benefit from a brace.
Is there anything you could recommend? Thanks

sprained ankle–HELP!!

I sprained my ankle a week ago.
I believe it is a Grade 1 sprain there was no swelling or discoloration at the time of injury, and I can walk on it with very little discomfort at this point.
It is still painful to rotate my ankle (by this I mean moving my toes from side to side with my heel remaining still).
I am still putting ice on it, but only twice a day at this point.
My question are: Should I still ice the ankle, or should I now apply heat? What kind of rehab should I be doing at this point?
Should I do some kind of strengthening exercises?
If so, what kind?
Should I take over-the-counter anti-inflammatories to speed up the healing process? How long should I wait to resume my normal activities (running, rock climbing)?
Should I tape my anle or wear a brace during sports, and if so, what type and for how long?THANK YOU!!!!!

I also have 13 pins and 2 plates in my anlke as well.
My question is will this device help support my ankle and make walking easier and less painful for me. And if so, which would be best for me?

De Quervains

(4 discussions)

I was diagnosed with De Quervains in April 2013.Worked with an OT for at least 6 sessions. Did home therapy of icing, stretching, splint, etc.
Had a cortasone shot with an MD hand specialist.
It was pretty much under control for a couple of months.
It has now returned and I am back being in a great deal of pain.
I am thinking about having the operation as a last resort.
Has anyone out there had the operation for De Quervains and if so what has the outcome been.

Lower Leg Injury

Hi, my name is Andrew and i’m a middle distance runner. Last year after training hard for 6 months I had to take time off (6 months) due to a supposed stress fracture that left me with pain the inside of my right leg as I walked. Now today as I continue to train indoors, I begin to feel that weird sensation around the same area that I injured last year (medial area of my shin) . The level of pain is different, yet it still bothers me as I run.
What I’d like to know is how to distinguish whether it is a stress fracture or simply shin splints or how to judge whether I should continue or stop running before this small pain escalates to a point where I walk in pain. Thank you,-Andrew Roberts
