Bunion and neuroma surgery

I had the bunions on both feet operated and a neuroma taken our of my right foot on 1-28-04.
The left foot is doing great. I’m back in a tennis shoe and probably could get into a dress shoe if I want.
There is VERY little swelling.
On the right foot where the 2 procedures were done my foot is still swollen and becomes more swollen when I stand and walk around.
How long will this last.
I though the swelling would go away and if I was on my feet alot it would swell. Any info would be appreciated.

Peroneal tear

My orthopedic told me that I tore the peroneal tendons in my leg and foot. I had an MRI. I have peroneal tendonitis. I am to wear a walking cast for a month. Will this heal the tendons? If not what could be done?

Morton Neuroma

(2 discussions)

I’m a runner who normally runs 4-6 miles 5-6 times a week. I’ve been using orthotics for the past 20 years to correct a pronation problem. I replace them every 3-4 years. I just got a new pair. I’ve developed a Morton’s Neuroma it’s been a problem I’ve had for several years and have ignored it. My doctor has been treating it with ethanol ejections every two weeks. I have a few questions.1) My foot is swollen and black and blue for the whole two weeks between ejections. It is very difficult to tell if we are making any progress. It is too painful to run on. Is this normal for this kind of treatment? 2) I’ve had 5 treatments what is my next choice.3) I’ve been using an elliptical machine to try to maintain my fitness level. Even doing this is painful. Should I continue?
4) Is there an expert / specialist in Morton’s Neuroma in the Boston area?Any advice would be appreciated. Thanks Rob

I have a question about toes?

what is between your baby toe, and the toe next to it? I always thought it was just a mucsle? not sure, but It really hurts! I accidentally kicked my couch at home with my baby toe I thought, but my baby toe doesn’t hurt it’s the middle of my toes that hurts. I can’t move either of thoes 2 toes to look in between them it hurts way too much! it’s been almost 3 weeks now since I kicked the couch, and I’m still in a lot of pain. the top of my foot is purple and blue, and looks bruised, but when I wear different shoes the straps change where the bruise is! almost like the bruise can move around. can they move around? anyway I’m confused. It really hurts but I can just take Aleve, and the pain pretty much goes away, but that bruise thing scares me? have any ideas? thanks! 🙂

osgood schlaughter (spellng?) disease in feet…..

(11 discussions)

my son is 14 1/2, just been told he has this osgood slaughter disease, he is very very very active and his feet have been hurting for two years.
two podiatrists gave him orthotics previously – the first podiatrist took xrays but never said a word, he was a quack anyways, they didn’t even charge us for the orthodics…
the podiatrist we have seen in may didn’t take xrays but said that he would need surgery because both of michael’s feet had an extra bone and something about stetching or extending some of his other muscles (?).. (not best desc..) I took him to a new GP doctor so I could get him referred to a different podiatrist, my GP dr had xrays taken, called me tonite said michael has osgood schlaughter disease in both feet (inside) and something similar in his back lower muscles or something like that.
i didn’t write things down and all that dr. talk got confusing!…
like I said, the previous podiatrists gave michael orthodics, but of course they don’t stop the pain.
i am concerned about what will and shoulod happen.
have new podiatrist appt next tues (14th)..
why can’t I find anything on the web about osgood s. disease in the FEET?..
and if this is accurate, then what is usually the best treatment etc?
my GP dr told me to expect physical therapy and to probably take a year off of sports to let himself heal.. he mentioned what prob happened is since he is so active and has hurt his ankles, etc so many times, they just didn’t heal enough before he got back out there.
does this seem right?
ANY info would be VERY much appreciated.

swellng after 8 weeks

I rolled my ankle in June then again in august, the second time 1 week later its swollen and hurts to extend my foot on the top/podiatary xrayed with no luck seeing a fracture, and put me in a boot.
Then two weeks later still swollen and xray neg.
So put me in knee cast.
Two weeks later still some swollen did MRI no fracture.
Now 8 weeks later foot swells on top around to ankle big time 2 opions say the swelling may last forever?
or for along time?
Have advised me to start physical therpy next week twice a week to get swelling down???
How is that going to reduce swelling?
I am wear shoes but they hurt they gave me inserts for my arches.
Says I had bad injury and that swelling this long is normal?
But what injury did I have because none of the diagnostic test showed anything the MRI was not done til 6 weeks after injury, and it showed bruising and swelling?
What does that mean?
It does not hurt on top of my foot any more but it hurts from swelling!
What should I do and can you explaine this to me…
