cheilectomy

I was told I need a cheilectomy, and have a podiatrist who seems very competent.
However, a friend insists that I should see an orthopedic surgeon.
I have an appt. with one who is supposed to be very good, but doesn’t accept my insurance.
Is there a reason to use an orthopedic surgeon for this procedure?
