cheilectomy

I had a chelectomy four weeks ago for hallux rigidus.
There was little pain at first, but now I am starting to weight bear again and bend the toe (which has never bent for 20 years) I am experiencing pain on walking, both in the toe itself and further up the foot.
Is this to be expected, and how long will it last ?

It is a little soon to predict. I am at a distinct disadvantage because I did not see how your joint looked at the time of surgery. You doctor is your best resource of information. Ask him/her.
