Common treatment for stress fracture

Hi,
I am almosty positive that I have a stress fracture in my foot.
I have been running a lot lately and the symptoms seem to point directly to a stress fracture.
I have an appointment to see a doc soon, but I am just wondering what is the common treatment for a stress frature?
is it a boot that I walk in or even up to a cast that I have to use crutches with?
Thanks

The treatments can vary depending on the individual patient as well as where the stress fracture occurs. I have treated metatarsal stress fractures with a little as a firm soled shoe all the way up to a cast or cast boot and non weight bearing with crutches. Other bones might require other treatments.
