constant heel pain

(3 discussions)

I have a constant pain in my left heel. At times it sends a tingling sensation up the back of my foot to my leg, at times it burns severly and I can not stand to put any weight on it, but when I but new shoes for about a week the pain seems to subside a little. Am I going crazy or can I do something to get rid of the pain. I even put jel soles in my shoes. please advise

What you are describing may be a nerve entrapment in the heel. It could be tarsal tunnel syndrom or a heel neuroma. Low back pain can also refer pain t the heel. I do not know of anything specific you can buy. I recommend you see a podiatrist for further evaluation.

Recent (2 month old) constant pain in both of my heels. At times it burns severly when I go up/down stairs. Occational runner but stopped running beacause of the severe pain. No swelling or discomfort otherwise, unless, if I press directly on my hells with my hand, I can feel the pain. Have not contacted a podiatrist nor have I tried wearing any confort device. Your advice will be greatly appreciated before I go see my military physician.

Unfortunately you have not given enough information to arrive at a single diagnosis. Among the possible considerations are plantar fasciitis, achilles tendonitis, tarsal tunnel syndrome. You would be best served seeing your podiatrist.
