cortizone shot
I’ve read that you should not get a cortizone shot in the achilles tendon area. Is this true? Also, if you get a cortizone shot in the toe or heel or any place other than the achilles area, is there a limit to how many shots one can have or can you have an infinite amount? Thankssbrewer

In my practice I do not inject the Achilles tendon with cortisone. It can weaken it and if it ruptures, it is a surgical repair. As far as numbers of shots. There are ALWAYS exceptions to “rules” such as no more than 3 shots in any one area over 1 year. However and infinite number would not be recommended. I try to evaluate the patient’s needs, wants, health area of concern and if the prior injections were of any benefit.
