cracking ankle

I sprained my ankle about 3 years ago dancing at a club.
My inner part of the ankle touched the ground causing a loud crack sound (I passed out from it) it was swollen and couldn’t walk on my foot for weeks. Anyways for the past year I notice when I walk I have a chipping sound. And recently its been a lot louder and very annoying.
I can’t even play hi and seek with my children anymore because they can hear me coming. I have tried having it cracked that worked for about a day. Do you think maybe I might have a out of place bone or something?
