Daughter lost toenail
My daughter hit her toe yesterday and knocked a toenail loose.
Every part of it is loose except the end that is still attached to the skin.
She can’t pull it off.
We just put some neosporin on it and bandaged it up.
Will the nail eventually come off?
Is it necessary to see a doctor?

Eventually, the nail will come off as the new nail grows and pushes it off. Generally, it takes 1 year for a toenail to grow from the root to the end, but when it is injured, it grows much faster. Keeping it covered and protected until it comes off is the right thing to do. It is your choice to see a doctor, preferably a podiatrist.
