Two tests for biceps tendonitis are:1) Palpate the bicipital groove- It is the notch on the upper front part of the shoulder between the greater and lesser tuberosities that is in the anterior shoulder with approximately 10-15 degrees of external rotation. Tenderness here is suggestive of tendonitis.2) Place patient in supine with the suspected arm hanging off the side of the mat. Flex and pronate the elbow. Now extend the shoulder off the mat. Gradually extend the elbow while maintaining forearm pronation and shoulder extension. This places the biceps on stretch and will increase the symptoms if tendonitis is present.
