Dislocated Toe after Bunion Surgery
(3 discussions)
I had a Brostrum Repair and a bunionectomy on my right foot. With weeks after my surgery, my great toe dislocted.
My Dr. manipulated it back into place and splinted it.
Within a week of the splint coming off, it dislocated again.
I have been told that I will need surgery to fix the situation and am wondering what to expect as far as the procedure.
Thanks.

Not being able to see your foot, I can't be 100% sure. But if your doctor has tried conservative measures and they have failed, then it is conceivable that surgery might be indicated.

Fusing the joint is a recognized procedure for what you describe. If you can get your x-ray copies, get another opinion. Good luck.
