distal bicep tendon surgery

(2 discussions)

I had surgery to repair the distal tendon in my right arm. I am concerned with one thing. Will my definition in the bicep come back or not? It Has been 2 weeks since surgery ,and my range of motion is about 70%.

I had a late (1 month after injury) distal reattatchment about 2 yrs ago now. They had to shorten the tendon some more than typical because of the late reattatchment. My bicep does not look like it did before. I have almost full range of motion, slightly less extension and less rotation in the outward direction (due to the shortening). When I flex the bicep looks shorter than before, like the tendon starts sooner than it should. This may also be because of the shortening. Such a rare injury I havn’t been able to compare. Almost full strength though. So I am happy.

I had distal bicep tendon surgery 5 months ago. I am now lifting about 20 pounds and my doctor has released me. My arm constantly aches. The surgeon says this is scar tissue. Is there anything I can do to help the aching as well as help with recovery?
