elbow and upper arm pain

(2 discussions)

I have pain in my elbows and under the upper arm mostly in my left arm and elbow and I am right handed.
It is in a line going from my elbow up my under arm.
I was unable to swim the yesterday I could not pull myself in the water. I also at times have pain in the upper part of my thumbs.
It hurts to carry bundles which I often do in my left arm so I can use my right to open and shut doors.
I have been hurting for about a month but only recently really started to ache most of the time it hurt so bad I could not swim yesterday.
I also do yoga but it does not seem to hurt as much when I do that.
I also work on a computer and I am 58.
So what is wrong is it tennis elbow? From what I can read I do not have the pain in the right place in my arm.
What do you suggest I do, yesterday when I hurt so bad I did buy two elbow braces and put ice on the arm.
It helped and was better today.
I do not want to give up swimming, I only swim about 45 to 50 min. twice a week and yoga twice a week.
Please help thanks.

I realize this is kind of an old post, but maybe someone will read it anyway. I have a neck injury at C5/C6, herniated disc. I have some terrible arm pain, upper arm, shoulder, fore arm and it goes down into my thumb. My neurologist tells me it is from the the disc in my neck. It is pressing on the nerve that goes down into my thumb from my neck. I also have carpal tunnel in that hand and that really intensifies the disc issue. I hope everyone that reads this, can find some help and relief from their pain and maybe this info will help someone else.
