Elbow pain from yoga handstand?

I have been practicing (Ashtanga) yoga for 18 months. The past 6 months I have been practicing Handstands. I now have pain in the elbows (tendonitis?)It hurts on outside, just below the joint.Does at 47 year old, 158lbs male, stop handstands? I don’t want to, it is fun. Do I need to take a break on arm presures for a few weeks?JH

If it is both elbows, it is almost certainly due to overuse; in your case, doing something (stressful position) that your elbows are not used to.You need to stop the handstands for a while, and not do them until you are pain free. If/when you do go back to doing them, you need to start with very short periods at a time, and gradually build up the time periods. Let us know how you make out, and good luck.
