elderly man unable to sit
83 yr old uncle unable to sit in chair, wheelchair, couch, bed etc without eventually sliding down, further and further. We constantly have to be lifting him back up. It is now a dangerous situation because it takes 2 to lift him and pull him up. What is going on? Is he losing his core trunk strenght or is it his back or hip muscles?

Maybe his hip range of motion is limited that he can't flex to 90 degrees to maintain a sitting posture. You could be right about the core strength as well. Where is your uncle now? Is he in a nursing home? If he is, therapy should evaluate him for a decline in status and mabye look at alternative seating to prevent him from sliding out of the chair.
