extreme thumb pain

(3 discussions)

I am experiencing extreme pain in my right thumb. For the previous 2 weeks the same arm has been in slight pain, best described as it is tired. If it could only not move would improve but doesn’t. The pain in my thumb is constant and even slight movement hurts. Unable to turn the key in my car or just changing a channel on a remote. I would appreciate if anyone had any info or had the same experience. thanks

I would recommend some sort of splint to stabilize the joint and let it heal. But first I would go to a doc, get a clear cut diagnosis of what is causing the pain. Ask if you can see a certified hand specialist for the splint and possible exercises.

I have the same thing…started in my left thumbnow going into my right hand..I’ve been to a thrapist…he’s made me a splint. I wear it constantly. I had x-ray’s done, and Dr. say’s it’s osteo- well I guess there is a surgery to fix this, and it’s actually called basel joint arthritis…web site is http://www.eatonhand.com it will discribe what you have to a tee…I’ve made a copie to show my Dr. on Monday… It is a very painful condition, and I want to get it fixed… I hope this helps you.Krystal weber
