I broke my Fibulia bone. I was in a cast for three weeks, and a walking boot for two weeks. My ankle still swells when I walk on it. Why is this?Is there any thing else I can I help to heal it?
Most likely it’s due to the walking boot. Are you doing ankle pumps? Take your foot out of the boot during the day and pump your foot up and down at the ankle….that’s if your doc says that’s ok to do. The pumping action of your calf muscle should help pump the edema out of your leg. Elevate your leg as much as you can throughout the day…above your heart is best…like laying down and elevating your leg up on a pillow.
