I think she may have a plantar fibroma. This is a knot of fibrous tissue on the plantar fascia. We are not really sure what causes these. Treatment can range from nothing to surgery.

The wife noticed a hard knot, that does not move on the instep of her arch on her left foot, under the skin. It’s only painful, alittle, when she touches it. She does have a condition known as RSD, a nerve condition, in the same foot. Her foot is permanently in the toe down position, due to the lack of nerve function, the achilles tendon has overpowered the rest of the muscle group. By the way, what is plantar fibroma, in everyday language please. Thanks.
