HI THERE I JUST WANT TO SAY THANKS FOR ALL YOUR HELPWITH THE 5TH METARSAL INFO. ONE LAST THING IS YES I HAVE PAIN AND IT IS STILL CRACKED AFTER 7 WKS IN A CAST IS THERE ANY BRACES I CAN PURCHASE OR USE TENSOR WHILE WORKING. PS I WORK AS A PARAMEDIC AND I LIFT DAILY.

This is very common to take months for this fracture to heal. Most patients feel better thant he x-ray looks. I advise them to proceed with caution and wear a very sturdy lace up shoe or boot for support. If they have an orthotic and it is comfortable then they should wear it. I do not feel that soft cushions are that much support. I have had some patients who are willing and capable to tape the area for support also.
