fracture blister

My mom broke both sides of her ankle on her left foot on January 24th.
They did surgery the next morning and put in screws.
She wore a hard cast for 2 weeks and they put her in a walking cast with no weight bearing.
When they removed the hard cast, we saw she had a fracture blister. She still has it and it doesn’t look as though it is getting any smaller.
The doctor says it’s fine.
The scab on it is black.
He said it was because the tissue is dead.
It is red around the blister.
It has been about 2 1/2 mos. since surgery and she still has this.
Why?
What can we do to get it to heal quicker.
Is there any danger in this blister?
Thank you, Pam

Your doctor has seen this and obviously has explained it to you. Sometimes things look worse on the outside but are really healing ok on the inside. Since I obviously have not seen the area, I can’t comment specifically. I recommend you discuss your concerns with the doctor who treated your mother.
