fractured fibula

(4 discussions)

My 13 year old found out this morning that he has a fractured fibula.
He had hurt himself running during gym, but just descibed what to me sounded like a strained muscle.
So we went to the doc on wed and friday he had an MRI last night.
Today the doc called and told me about his fibula.
He wants to play football this fall.
What can be done and will he be able to play.
Thank you,Sandy

Umfortunately, there is not enough information given for me to give a response. Children still have growth plates open. Does the fracture involve it?Has he been casted? IS surgery required? All of your concernes should really be addressed by the doctor who is treating him.

I moved to New york when I was 21 to be a dancer but then during rehearsals one day I had injured my leg. I went to see a doctor and said I had fractured my fibula. Is it erious will I ever dance to the best of my ability again?

i fractured my fibula whilst playing rugby around 3 weeks ago. It was a clean fracture, I’m in a cast now and am in no pain at all… even when walking. I was wondering if snow boarding was out of the question, obviously id take it really easy.

The exact same thing happened to me, I have to work on mine every 2 weeks with a little blade to scrape all the skin out. If you find anything out let me know because I’m not going back to the Doctor for $50.00 when I can do the same thing at home.
